Mobility scooters and related equipment

Friday, November 27th, 2009

Due to a rather picturesque range of neurological ailments, not to forget the devastating effects of advancing age, I have become sort of less mobile than I was in my younger days. Where I used to be able to effortlessly walk for hours and hours, I now move slowly at a tortoises pace, for a maximum of one hour, leaning on either a cane or a crutch – depending on how I happen to function that day. Yet I won’t complain: there’s nothing I can truly say I lack in my life, and diminished mobility doesn’t usually bother me.

However, for the somewhat longer distances I nowadays use an electrical, which definitely makes me feel like a prince or even a sultan! Relaxedly sitting in a comfortable seat, pleasantly but never arrogantly greeting the breathless passers-by, I buzz along at either walking pace or double speed. When I feel relaxed I “walk”, when I actually need to be somewhere in time I crank up the little machine.

There are lots of people much worse off than me, when it comes to mobility. I can, albeit with difficulty, still walk – but a lot of others can’t. Especially for them the mobility scooter is a great support, enabling them to feel mobile again. There are 3-wheel mobility scooters and 4-wheel mobility scooters, and if you happen to be considering buying such a contraption, I certainly recommend the 3-wheeled version. These tend to be considerably more manoeuvrable due to their tighter turning radius, which is a definite advantage in crowded or narrow places. I also would advice you to go for batteries with a lot of capacity: it’s not only unpleasant but also quite embarassing to find yourself out of juice when a long way from home!

Apart from mobility scooters, there are many more contraptions and inventions that make the life of the disabled much more pleasant. Stairlifts, bed lifts, electric wheelchairs, rollators… they all serve to make life much more pleasant for the disabled.

Blogging Traffic A Bit Of Give And Take

Thursday, November 26th, 2009

Blogging traffic is a give and take relationship. Sometimes one of the best ways to get traffic to your blog is by visiting someone else ‘s blog.

Go to their blog and read one of their entries, or read a few of them. Chances are that you are going to find something that you have in common.

When you find something that you find truly interesting on a blog, leave a comment so that they know that you were there. One of the best known blogs available is LiveJournal.

A great feature of LiveJournal is that you can search for interests on their site and it will come up with results of those who have that interest.

Are you interested in horseback riding? You can see what other bloggers are interested in horseback riding as well. When you are commenting on someone’s post, you want to make sure that you don’t leave generic comment.

If you like the post, say something about what you read in the post. After you have commented on the person’s post, then you can say something like, “I really like horseback riding too. I had a similar experience to yours.”

and then use it to link back to your journal. You can do this with an acchor text such as gogvo or malta holidays.

But be sure that you sound sincere when you are commenting, and don’t make them feel like you’re just fishing for traffic.

By following these strategies, you will get yourself some free web traffic but if someone thinks that you are using their blog to get more traffic to yours, they won’t visit your site and your efforts will be wasted.

Becoming a Movie Maker: Digital Video Cameras

Thursday, November 26th, 2009

Buying a digital video camera and digital video camera software can be a fun and exciting proposition, with many different easy to use options on the market today. There are also choices available whether the individual is a budget buyer and wants to stay under five hundred dollars on the purchase, or if they use the camera for their advertising business or other media production company and can spend thousands on a camera. Depending on the buyer, there are certain features that should not be neglected in order to have a quality product that can be enjoyed for years to come.

On a Budget

For buyers of digital video cameras who are on a tight budget, they will need to look for at least the minimum specifications in a camera. The lens of the camera should have a zoom of at least ten times on it as well as a stabilization feature so that the camera does not have to be on a tripod for filming. In addition, the megapixels should be over six in order to have clarity of picture and the ability to do some editing to the film. The illumination rating should be at a minimum seven lux so that the lighting does not affect the film quality as badly, as well as having an automatic exposure control so that the individual does not have to know as much about shooting video in order to still have a good video quality. Many meat traders are using their digital cameras to shoot pictures of pork ribs wholesale and then post them online.

The focus of the digital video camera should be automatic with the electronic zoom available with the trigger. The LCD screen should be large enough to clearly view the video, so about three inches is the best. In addition to these features, there should also be a FireWire, USB 2.0, A/V, S-Video, and a microphone port in the digital video camera for the different attachments and hookups.

Often, even with these budget digital video cameras, there are software programs that come with them to help individuals edit and specialize the videos once they are finished and want to store them. Some of these features are editing software that helps individuals to splice different sections together, add music or other sound recordings to the sound of the video clip, fade into and out of the video, and add captions. In addition, these cameras are also useful to pork meat traders, who use them to shoot videos of pork wholesale cuts so they can post them on their websites. There is also software available that can help individuals that have older versions of film recordings, such as 8mm or Hi8 video, and be able to convert those into digital recordings for better preservation of the film.

Wheel Center Caps – A Smart Finishing Touch For Your Automobile

Put the Final Touch On Your Ride with Center Caps

Car manufacturers have a lot of branding choices when it comes to getting cars look like they’re part of a unique manufacturing line; the car’s logo or the company’s logo appears on a lot of spots. One of those is on the center of the wheel. This is referred to as a wheel center cap, and lamentably, they tend to be a small casualty of the numerous knocks and scrapes that cars get into as a normal course of operation.

A car with a missing wheel center cap tends to feel unfinished or incomplete. This is because the rims are uneven and the lug nuts are perhaps exposed; this can decidedly give your car an unfortunately shoddy appearance. The good news is that there’s a flourishing market of substitute center caps accessible for your automobile, running from custom wheel caps with a particular theme to original factory replacements. These small details, such as replacing the wheel caps, are the form of finishing touch that improves your car’s resale value. People subconsciously react to these signs by regarding the car as well kept and in sound condition.

Some people will do some digging and discover that various different sizes of wheels have common cap mounting points. It might be a little ridiculous to imagine placing Toyota center caps onto Suzuki wheels but they will hold. Most wheel center caps are manufactured from chrome moly alloy, although nowadays there are some made from stamped stainless steel or extruded aluminum.

Beyond purchasing factory replacements, there are companies that will sell custom-built wheel caps – these can be cosmetic in a lot of ways. Some use authorized logos (like the logo of a favorite sports franchise or college campus), others are more artistic, covering religious or musical subjects. Others can be individualized; it’s feasible to get a center cap done up (normally in ABS plastic) with about any kind of graphics you want, say your initials, or a subject matter you believe in. (We’ve spotted SUVs with “Holding back glaciers” on theirs…)

If you’re buying a custom-built set of rim center caps, it’s key to have the diameter of your tyres, and to know how the caps attach before you purchase. Luckily, there’s a lot of information available online on this – you can find your model of car, see the size of the tires, and determine if they’re a four, five or six nut mounting system, or if they’re a screw on wheel center cap or an applique system.

Not only are wheel center caps a means to keep your auto looking its best, they’re also there to preserve the wheels of your car from corroding, which comes in handy when it’s time to change a tire. There’s little worse than having to struggle with rusty lugnuts in the rain while trying to change a flat.
